The worst school shooting in United States history occurred on May 24, 2022, at Elementary School in Texas. At least 13 people were killed, and more than a dozen others were injured after a 17-year-old student shot his teachers and classmates.

The school was placed on lockdown, and parents were told to go to an elementary school near. The suspect was expelled from the school after he had brought guns onto the campus.

Texas Police Says Closed Doors Propped Open By A Teacher Prior To The Attack

Two Uvalde elementary school teachers are being held on $50,000 bond each in connection with the alleged attempted abduction of a student Wednesday morning, the Uvalde Police Department said, CBS4 reported. One teacher is also charged with obstructing justice and possessing a controlled substance. Police said the suspect took five students from Uvalde Elementary School at gunpoint after following them inside.

Uvalde is about 60 miles east of San Antonio and is bordered to the west by Mexico. “We do what we do for the children,” Uvalde Police Chief Gregorio Villarreal told reporters on Monday. “The kids are our life.” Around 6:30 a.m., the door was propped open when police said five students attacked a seventh-grade math teacher at a Uvalde elementary school.

The teacher, who has been identified as John O’Rourke by the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office identified as John O’Rourke, was transported to Uvalde Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. The police did not release his name. However, several students said he was an experienced teacher who worked at the Uvalde County School for more than 20 years. 

The sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to inquiries for clarification. Teacher involvement in school shootings is associated with the incidence of school shootings and the lethality and fatality of school shootings. Police say the Uvalde, Texas, teacher is suspected of closing the propped-open door before the attack.
