Amber Heard’s Lawyer Comments That The Jury’s Decision Was Influenced By Social Media Posts Criticizing Heard

Finally, the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial has come to an end on Wednesday. Contrary to the 2017 lawsuit, this time the jury has sided with Johnny Depp and has found Amber Heard to be guilty of defaming her ex-husband by writing an op-ed about Depp domestically abusing her. The jury has ordered the Aquaman actress to pay $15million for defaming Johnny Depp. Amber Heard won $2million in her countersuit for her claim that Depp’s lawyer has called her domestic allegations a hoax. The defamation trial happened over the last six weeks and both parties in the case have claimed that they were the victim of domestic abuse.

Amber Heard’s Lawyer Thinks Social Media Swayed The Jury

Amber Heard, who lost the trial has shared her disappointment through her official social media account. Heard had said that she is heartbroken that the evidence she has produced against Johnny Depp was not enough to stand up to the power that her ex-husband, Depp has. She has also stated that she is disappointed in the decision that the jury has made. Amber Heard’s lawyer has claimed that the jury’s decision was influenced by social media posts supporting Johnny Depp and criticizing Amber Heard. Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft has said, “How can you not? They went home every night. They have families. The families are on social media. We had a 10-day break in the middle because of the judicial conference. There’s no way they couldn’t have been influenced by it.”

Legal experts from all over the country have weighed upon the decision that was made by the jury in the Amber Heard– Johnny Depp defamation lawsuit. Many of them have said that they are surprised by the Jury’s decision. One common response that most of the legal experts had was that the jury shouldn’t have favored one side as both of them have been asked to give money for defamation. The legal experts have said that no one should have won the case as both Depp and Heard are victims of domestic abuse. 

Johnny Depp and Amber heard started dating after meeting on the sets of the 2009 movie “The Rum Diary”. The couple dated for over 4 years before getting married in 2015. It was in 2016 things started going downhill between Heard and Depp after Heard filed for a divorce. She also stated that her ex-husband has physically abused her. The jury of 2016 favored Amber Heard and she was paid $7 million by Depp. The divorce got finalized in 2017. The next year, Heard released an op-ed saying that she is a victim of domestic violence, this made Depp file a $50 million lawsuit against Amber Heard for defamation. One year after Depp filed the lawsuit, another magazine published an article were it called Depp as a wife beater. After this, Johnny Depp was dropped from his role as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. The hearing of the actors’ defamation lawsuit began on April 2022 and ended on June 2nd.
